Belief

Everyone believes
In how they think it ought to be
Everyone believes
And they're not going easily
Belief is a beautiful armor
But makes for the heaviest sword
-John Mayer

Today in a Philosophy class, I had to defend what I believe and why I believe it. In a lecture in sexual morality (which I've never heard of being taught in a classroom) I spoke up about why I think pre marital sex is wrong. The professor had the nerve to tell me, in his own righteous way, that my beliefs on the subject are inaccurate. The professor continued to add to the "pro" side of why premarital sex is positive. Now, why do I believe that sex before marriage is wrong? Because I have been taught that by the word of God. The Bible states that sex is between husband and wife and should not occur otherwise. As a Christian, I support that and it is the foundation for my opinion on sex- which in a college world is hard to defend. But never in my life did I think a professor at a university would challenge me. In the professor's response to me, he said that it is 'hard' to accept the Bible's teachings because the majority of people disobey it daily. He used the example that the Bible also says work shouldn't be done on the sabbath, yet thousands of people mow their lawn on that day. I'm sorry Dr. but I hardly think sex and mowing your lawn are similar.

I wrote this post to encourage anyone who reads it to defend their beliefs. Hold firm to the teachings you support and never be afraid to say that you believe something simply because the Bible tells you so. The Bible holds the greatest commandments, we shouldn't question.

Poker Face

This past weekend, I had the honor of singing at the Bobby Bowden Coach of the Year banquet with my show choir, Resonance.
The banquet honored Nick Saban and Lee Corso, and there were many other famous faces in attendance (such as Sara Evans and Taylor Hicks).
Before the banquet started, various solos from members of our choir were preformed as "cocktail entertainment."
My bestie Allie and I sang the Glee arrangement of Poker Face- it was SO much fun!
Mal belted 'Rolling in the Deep' and was fabulous as always!
As a choir, we sang 'I Won't Let Go' as a tribute to the April 2010 tornadoes.
it was very moving and even Lee Corso was smiling :)

Allie rocking it out while I laugh at our goofy friends. Sharing one mike kind of sucked...

I'm Back

I realized today that I have been completely absent from this blog for months now...
I've missed the outlet for my thoughts.
Rather than spend a whole page posting updates & pictures of what's gone on,
I'm starting fresh.

This semester is much more challenging, stressful, and busy.
I'm making it!
But sometimes only barely.
I'll start with midterm grades: they were posted today and I'm far less than pleased.
Especially with my Ethics grade.
It's so hard to enjoy and put effort into a class that you hate.
I disagree with 96% of what my Democratic/Liberal teacher says.
I'm making it though.
The classes pertaining to my major are much more manageable :)

I feel blessed, satisfied, and happy with my life.
I'm currently in a good place.

Very Sunsetty

One of my favorite things are beautiful skies.
I love seeing a gorgeous sunset or sunlight streaming through a cloud.
To me, it's like a smile from God.
Or a reminder of His beauty.
I am so unbelieveably blessed and seeing the gorgeous sky reminds me so.
Just a few pictures I've taken:
A beautiful sky. One of my favorites.

Halloweekend

So this past weekend was Halloween. Usually this is not a 'holiday' I am particularly excited about but this year turned out to be pretty fun! My friends and I carved pumpkins, made cookies, and went to two parties; one for Resonance and one just for fun. It's really unfortunate that 20 yr olds can't go trick-or-treating... Anyway, lots of fun and tons of pictures. Here's a few:
Unfortunately, my real costume hadn't been delivered in time for the Resonance party so I had to make a last minute costume and chose to be a cat. It turned out cute if I do say so myself!
The girls
Vampire and Indian (my real costume)
My Martha Parham ladies! With Gaga creepin' in the back
Besties!! What a fun Halloween :)

Fall Break

The past four days were such a blessing.
Not only did I have a break from class,
but I got to spend quality time with my amazing Mother.
We started working on this scrapbook that will be filled with my favorite pictures from my childhood.
I can't wait to flip through it when it's finished.
Looking at all those pictures really made me realize how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family.
God chose where I would be very carefully,
and I wouldn't change a thing about my life.
I also got to spend a day with my Grandmother.
Though we're pen pals, it was nice to catch up.
She's been like a second mother to me all my life and I don't know what I would do without her.

Thank you Lord for the blessing that these two woman have been to me!

Not only did I get to spend time with my Mom, but I got to earn some moolah by babysitting the kids next door.
Feels good to have some cash! Haha.
It was hard, as usual after a break, to head back to Ttown.
I'm really not ready for the stress of class, rehearsals, and studying to set back in.

Some breaks just aren't long enough.

One of my Mom's favorite pictures of me from our scrapbook.
I know, I was adorable :)

In a Rut

Lately I have been in quite a rut.
I have had little motivation for school,
rehearsals,
or even working out.
I've been in a weird lazy mode...
I don't know what my deal is,
but I need some serious motivation.
